A DESIGN PROCESS

Here we take an object from the 19th century and rework it into something for the 21st.
Original table has a turned walnut top with a faked rosewood finish. The pedestal is rosewood veneered. The base or feet are walnut with rosewood finish which is quite well done. we could go in any number of directions depending on criteria and come up with an equal number of results. I was after something more dynamic and personal, the model shows the result. The slide show shows some of the process.

CHERRY DESK 1993

Writing desk in black cherry. This is one I know I had sketches of, for at least ten years and now this is the only one I can find.

The file drawer is set for hanging files, either letter or legal size featuring rosewood rails.

CHERRY STOOL 1994

Cherry bar stool 16"x16"x27" 1994? maybe can't remember for sure. It was derived from a line of dining chairs and stools I did in the late seventies. It could easily be developed back into a dining chair , it would unfortunately be rather expensive to make.

WOODEN HEAD WONDERS

Today I reached a milestone $100.00 for a tank of gas. I'd have felt a lot better if just one of those dollars was going to a solution. Imagine the turmoil it would cause if we put a 1% tax on gas and oil and put it in a fund to be used strictly for research and development of green power. While I don't know how much it would be, it would be a really big pile of money in a fairly short time. We then hire the best scientists, engineers and designers etc. Pay them well and fund their projects. As solutions and improvements come, so would the entrepreneurs.
